One-on-One Reading Instruction

At Reading Solutions, our primary mission is to ensure that all children develop the reading skills essential to both academic success and reading enjoyment.   Keeping in mind that children develop literacy skills at their own pace and not on a prescribed timetable, a major focus is working with those children who remain baffled by the reading process.   Studies indicate that struggling readers become less confident readers.  There is also a link between reading frustration and behavior.

We offer a variety of approaches to help young readers develop basic reading skills and to become more enthusiastic readers.    These include traditional methodologies that focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, talking about text, as well as multi-sensory, Orton-Gillingham approaches, such as Wilson Reading, Explode the Code, S.P.I.R.E., Phono-Grafix. and others.

Work with a new student always begins with an assessment to determine individual approaches to learning, extent of reading knowledge, and reading gaps.  Once the initial diagnostic assessment is completed, an individualized instructional plan for reading is designed and implemented.
